Intro

Before we Begin..

This is to remind you that this is a high school class, not middle school, and that means that it’s your responsibility to know what you need to do, manage your time, develop and use good study habits, make up work when you have to be absent, and communicate with me and your fellow students. If you aren’t ready and willing to do this, you shouldn’t be in this class.

Therefore, in this class I don’t:

  • allow phones or computers in class except by special permission (such as taking pictures for a lab report)
  • ask T/F or multiple choice questions on tests (and there are at least as many long answer and drawing/labeling questions as short answers)
  • prepare study guides for you
  • use class time for extensive review before tests
  • accept corrections to tests
  • accept late work without penalty.

I do show you many proven study techniques, and I do make it clear what’s expected of you and when. I’m happy to work with you if you have known learning issues, such as dyslexia or test anxiety; or if you need to make up work. Please keep in mind that it does take time to set up makeup labs and create makeup exams, and these can’t be delayed indefinitely (usually no more than a week after you return).
